Ground Beef Stroganoff Recipe
Ground Beef Stroganoff is a delicious little spin on a classic. In under 30 minutes, you will have a rich and creamy mushroom sauce that is PACKED with savory, ground beef. Yum!
During these colder months, there is nothing more soothing than a hearty meal of beef in a cream sauce. We love Classic Beef Stroganoff and this ground beef version is even easier.

Hi, there! This is Natalya from Momsdish. I love simple dishes that don’t use too many ingredients. That being said, I don’t like to skimp on flavor either! My Ground Beef Stroganoff is the perfect example of a dish that’s both low-maintenance and tasty. I’m so excited to bring it into your home!
I love to cook, but I don’t love cleaning up big messes. Therefore, I am a huge fan of one-pot meals. It’s also really easy to double or triple the recipe since it’s cooked in one pot. Meal-preppers rejoice!
Best Ground Beef for Stroganoff
Since the base of your sauce is cream, you are going to want to use leaner ground beef so you don’t have too much fat. I recommend using 90% lean beef. If you must, you can ground beef with a higher fat content but it will release more fat.
Tip: If your ground beef has a higher fat content, brown it first and strain out the liquid fat that cooks off before you combine it with your sauce.
What is Stroganoff?
Beef Stroganoff has graced the tables of many over the centuries. But, who can take credit for this lusciously creamy, beefy dish? Authentic Beef Stroganoff was dreamt up in Russia in the early 1800s by the personal chef of Count Stroganoff, a dignitary in the court of Alexander III at the time. The chef then named his creation after the Count and the rest is history.
How to Make Ground Beef Stroganoff
- Brown your ground beef in a dutch oven or deep skillet with olive oil.
- To the ground beef add chopped onions and minced garlic. Cook until lightly browned.
- Add mushrooms to the skillet and cook for another 5 minutes.
- Add flour, stir to combine everything together and saute for another minute.
- Pour in your broth and scrape any bits stuck to the bottom of the pan. Add in your heavy whipping cream, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper and bring to a simmer.
- Remove from heat. While stirring constantly, add in sour cream slowly.
How to Serve Ground Beef Stroganoff
Ground Beef Stroganoff is just as versatile as the classic version. You can serve it with noodles, rice, buckwheat or my favorite, mashed potatoes. You could even slather the meat sauce over some roasted potatoes.
If you want to skip the carbs, pour your beef stroganoff on top of some roasted veggies. My roasted Brussels sprouts will do the trick.
For a garnish, chop up some fresh parsley or dill and sprinkle it right on top. Herbs add a nice pop of color, but more importantly, a welcome contrast to the beefy flavor.
Storing Leftover Beef Stroganoff
Refrigerate your leftovers by storing them in an airtight container for up to a week. You can reheat in a saucepan over medium heat or in the microwave.
Freeze stroganoff in an airtight container or a freezer-safe bag. Allow it to thaw overnight before serving. Reheat in the microwave or in a saucepan over medium heat.
Cook’s Tip: If you serve your stroganoff with noodles, make sure to store the pasta separately from the sauce. Noodles have a tendency to absorb liquid and will suck up your sauce overnight!

I feel like this is too much flour. It was too “flour-y”. Other than that, it was just ok. I would do less flour, no cream, more beef broth, and replace the “heavy cream” with maybe a tad bit more sour cream, and it would be a lot better.
Hello, I just wanted to let you know I made this tonight and it was so tasty, flavorful, and so so good! I also wanted to comment, that I added 1 teaspoon Paprika, 1/4 teaspoon each of Mustard Powder and Thyme and added an additional teaspoon of Worchestershire. Thank you so much!
Thank you for sharing, Matthew! I’m so glad you loved the recipe!
Very good recipe, but it could use a little extra spice/tang. I did add some paprika and parsley, but next time I think I will probably add a little mustard too. Overall, a very easy and reliable dish for any night of the week, particularly when it’s cold outside. Thank you for sharing it.
Thank you for sharing that with us!
Very good.I added a bit of MSG to it to give it more savory flavor.
If my 7 and 10 year old won’t eat it, it means the recipe failed me. My husband said it lacked flavor. I think it would have tasted better if the beef, onions, and mushrooms would have been sautéed well (even a little crispy) before adding the beef broth. It ended up tasting bland, and I even used more salt than what the recipe says.
Hi Celeste, I’m sorry it didn’t meet the mark. I have kids so I know how important it is to make dinner that everyone loves. Did you possibly leave out the Worcestershire sauce? That would make it seem more bland.
very good. Stroganoff traditionally (my tradition, lol) has a bit of red wine in it, which I added. Glad to have a recipe without canned soup.
Absolutely delicious. The only thing I did differently was to cut the mushrooms to one cup and used a red onion small size. An absolutely perfect meal.
Great to hear that you enjoyed this recipe, Julia! Thanks a lot for sharing.
Really good recipe. My husband loved it! I think you are a patient person. If I give one of my recipes to someone and they add things and take away things, then I believe it is not my recipe. Well thanks for a really good recipe
You’re so welcome, Judy. I hope you and your family will love all of the recipes that you will try!
I made this with Impossible Beef and vegan no-beef broth and it was excellent! Tips for using faux meats: go a little heavy on all seasonings, including making the broth double strength. I also used powdered heavy cream (Anthony’s is available online and is excellent quality). Thanks for a great recipe!
That’s great to hear, Mary. Thank you for sharing your experience with us.
It was suggested to me to add brown mustard (Dijon mustard) to it. At first I thought it was strange, but it was delicious!! I recommend adding the mustard, but I’m not sure when the best time would be. I added it at the very end and it was still really really good.
Thank you for sharing that with us!
This is a good easy-to-follow recipe. It’s easy to tweak to your taste without messing up the balance. I suggest
adding more garlic and a dollop of sour cream upon serving. I added a splash of cream sherry when the meat was cooking, which really brings out the mushroom flavor.
This is not beef stroganoff. This is soupy beef over noodles. I expected a thicker sauce.
I followed the recipe then added extra seasoning as it was quite bland.
HI Kat, this is an easier ground beef version. Check out our Original Beef Stroganoff – it sounds like that is the version you might be looking for.
Kat, did you add the 2 tbsp flour? My sauce was much less thick before I added it. Once the flour was added it turned into a perfect creamy sauce consistency. 🙂
I agree! Too much liquid with the beef broth plus cream and only 2T flour. Ended up very soupy and definitely a touch bland. I used ground chuck and drained it. Kinda disappointed!
This was super yummy! Definitely a family favorite. It will likely go into my regular rotation of recipes. I think beef stroganoff is severely under rated!!!
That’s wonderful, Amy! So glad you loved it.
THIS WAS AMAZING I TRIED OVER 14 OF NATASHAS RECIPIES AND ALL OF THE HAVE BEEN AMAZING. THANK YOU FOR SHARING ALL OF YOUR AMAZING COOKING WITH EVERYONE.
You’re welcome! I’m happy you loved it, Peter!
I made this recipe tonight for dinner, but used pork sausage instead since I didn’t have ground beef and let me tell you! It actually turned out really good! Sooo flavorful!
That’s wonderful, Mariah!
I guess I like my food seasoned well. This was pretty bland. I added more seasonings and it helped, but I will not make this again. For those wondering, I added 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard and 1 teaspoon paprika. I increased the kosher salt to 1 teaspoon, used 3 cloves of garlic, used 1/2 cup sour cream and added in 4 ounces cream cheese. These changes helped with the blandness.
Feel free to add more seasoning next time. Thanks for your feedback, Miss B.
I made this recipe last night for my family and it took me one pot and less than an hour to make! I did make some minor adjustments after reading through some comments. I added smoked paprika, thyme, a tablespoon of Dijon mustard and an extra cup of beef broth so I could cook the noodles in the sauce. And it came out great! Everyone loved it! Way better than the box stuff mom used to make when we were kids! Will definitely be making again.
Hi Alyssa! That’s great. I’m glad you loved the recipe.
Two thumbs up. The only thing I did different was I used garlic salt instead of regular salt. The family enjoyed it and I will definitely be making this again in the future. Thank you for having this recipe available to everyone. 🤙🏼
You’re welcome! I’m so happy you enjoyed it, Chris!
this recipe just didn’t work out for me. very bland. I ended up making it all different after using all the ingredients in the recipe. this one needs to be taken down
Hi, that is definitely not what you should expect from this recipe. Could the seasoning have been missed or any substitutions made?
Needed a lot of additional spices to make this less bland unfortunately 🙁
Making again tonight. Loved by the whole family! Easy and delicious.
Thank you Natasha <3
I’m so happy you all enjoyed that. Thank you for sharing that with us!
Followed the recipe to a T & it was just bland & flavorless. Chose this recipe based on the high star rating but I won’t be making it again
Hi, that is definitely not what you should expect from this recipe. Could the seasoning have been missed or any substitutions made?
LOL, Obviously. This is a great recipe. Maybe they had Covid.
Hi, while I’ve read through the comments, I still can’t find an exact serving size? I know you can change it to your liking but it just still says “amount per serving” but not saying the serving amount lol…
Hi Courtney, this recipe serves 8 people. So one serving will be 1/8 of the recipe.
Natalya, thank you for posting this recipe! I eagerly searched online for a simplified version of a classic stroganoff and your recipe was by far the fastest, easiest and most budget-wise I found. I made it for the first time, and it’s delicious. Consistency is perfect. I loved reading all the adaptions others made, and I certainly gave myself some creative liberty to *play* with your recipe, too. Served it on baby potatoes. Sooooo goooood!
Hello Mahara, good to know that you liked our Ground Beef Stroganoff Recipe. Thanks for sharing and I hope that you’ll love all the recipes that you will try from us!
Made this last night…SOOO DELISH!! The whole fam just loved it! Thanks so much Natasha!!
I’m so happy you all enjoyed that. Thank you for sharing that with us, Ja’el!
Really great recipe. I used milk instead of cream but it still turned out great! Will definitely make this again!
That’s just awesome! Thank you for sharing your wonderful review, Sarrah!
So good! Add a packet of onion soup mix as well as you’re adding the flour. You can thank me later. J/K lol I’m not that arrogant but it is good
Thanks for the tip, we appreciate it and your review as well!
Hello, My name is Natasha too. I love beefstroganof regular and with ground beef, but i cook it with a can of cream of mushrooms soup without sour-cream. Try it , really good. always lots of compliments.
Great idea, Thank you so much for sharing that with me, Natalia!
First time leaving a review on a recipe, but had to because this was just so good! Such an approachable recipe for someone like me whose cooking skills are questionable lol. The consistency was really perfect! I’m thinking about trying some of the healthier mods left in the comments so I can cook this more. Might also try this as a base recipe for a chicken or shrimp Rasta pasta. Really good though, thank you so much for sharing!!
That’s wonderful Dana, I’m so glad you loved it. Thank you for taking the time to leave a review.
I have NEVER EVER written a review on an online recipe but this recipe is my favourite meal of all time!! It’s affordable, fast, and so so sooooo delicious! Fantastic recipe! Pairs well with buttered green beans 🙂
Thank you so much for taking the tie, Aleia. We’re so glad that this is your favorite recipe of all time!
This taste very good! Even our picky eater loves it! We have been eating this meal here for about 2 years now.
Thank you for sharing, we’re so glad that you love our Ground Beef Stroganoff Recipe!
Delish! Quick and easy, even my super picky child loved it.
Thanks for your good comments and feedback, Lara!
I love this recipe, I’m making it tonight, this time I’m adding more garlic!! It’s so fast and easy.
Thank you for sharing, Linda! I’m glad you love the recipe. 🙂
Thank you! This has become one of my favorite recipes! It’s absolutely delicious.
You’re welcome! Glad that you liked this recipe.
Definitely a comfort recipe I can’t wait to try! Do you have any suggestions for subbing heavy cream for plant-based milk or cream instead, like coconut, for a dairy-free option?
Hi Lucy, I haven’t personally tried that to advise. If you do an experiment, please let us know how it works for you.
I made this & forgot to add the sour cream! It was still very good. I thought it was a little runny and didn’t realize it was because I forgot the sour cream. Once I poured it over the noodles didn’t seem runny.
Yes, that could be because of the sour cream but good to know that you still liked it!
Really good, quick, and easy to follow!! My family loved it! Thank you!
Love it! Thanks so much for sharing that with us.
This is one of my go-tos for a quick, easy and delicious meal!!
Hi Kenna! I’m glad you love it. Thank you. 🙂
Thank you for this recipe. I believe the beef stock I use is weak so I added 1.5 cubes and extra worcestershire. I also added mustard powder and smoked paprika to this recipe. This is the second recipe I have tried as a base recipe and it was the best. Thanks again for sharing this delicious recipe. Appreciate it so much. 🙂
Hi Danielle! I’m so glad you loved the recipe, thank you for the feedback.
Yum!! Very similar to how I’ve made it in the past but it’s been too long ~ thanks for the reminder! For me, it’s essential to add a bay leaf or 2 and for sure the fresh parsley garnish!
You’re welcome, Tracy! 🙂
My family is loving this recipe! I love how easily it comes together! I serve it over poppy-seed noodles that I add a bit of fresh parsley to. SO good
Hi Jane! That sounds delicious. Thank you for sharing.
Re: Ground Beef Stroganoff
In the reviews, you referred someone to the Printer Friendly version of this recipe to get the serving size info. I didn’t see Printer Friendly but I did see Print. I still did not see info re serving size. Is it a cup, a 1/2 cup or what? I wish that all recipes would tell you the size of a serving. Many of them, not just yours, don’t.
Ho Rosemarie, this recipe serves 8 people. So one serving will be 1/8 of the recipe.
This was so quick and easy to prepare. Not too many ingredients made it a plus. I topped this on pasta and it was delicious! Will keep this in the meal rotation!
That’s great! Happy to hear you enjoyed it.
i do not have whipping cream but have half and half can i use that and do i use the same amount?
Hi! You can use half and half in the same amount but because it has less fat, the sauce won’t get as thick.
Absolutly going to be a go to meal in our house. The whole Family loved it!
That’s just awesome! Thank you for sharing your wonderful review, Rosie!
Very easy to follow! My family loved it over rice and egg noodles!
Wonderful to hear, Martina! Thank you for sharing.
I made this recipe today, it was yummy and easy! My family loved it.
So glad you loved it!
Just a note that step 5 currently is “scarp” and should be “scrape.”
Hi Evan, fixed! Thank you for bringing that to my attention.
Delicious recipe!! Because I’m extra lazy and I didn’t want to dirty two pots, I added extra beef broth and cooked my noodles in the same pot as my ground beef mixture. I also added a hint of horseradish (because I had it in the fridge), and it added just an extra kick. 🙂
Thank you so much for sharing that with me, Faith!
This recipe is AMAZING, My family loved it so much and it’s definitely a recipe that we will use forever!
That is the best when the family loves what we parents make. That’s so great!
I haven’t had this dish in so long, I only remembered what it tasted like after making it tonight. My momma used to make beef stroganoff for me, and even used ‘fake’ ground beef when I went through some vegetarian years lol! Very tasty – already sampled it w/ linguini, just waiting on the egg noodles to finish. I was making spaghetti w/ marinara and decided to use half the meat/onions to make stroganoff in a separate pot since I finally had mushrooms and cream in the fridge and egg noodles in the pantry. AND I needed to use some extra beef stock so it was meant to be!
That’s wonderful! I’m so glad you loved it.
Natasha,
I previously left a rave review for this recipe. It is in my personal ‘Top 3’ recipes from Natasha’s Kitchen. But lately I have found it necessary to restrict my calorie and fat intake. Can you recommend a fat-free alternative for the whipped cream?
I can easily find fat-free sour cream, but heavy cream by definition requires the fat content it has. Can I omit the cream entirely and still be left with a delicious meal, or do you know of an easily found substitute for the cream that works well? Thanks!!
Hi Andrew, we prefer this with the reach and creamy whipped cream, and while I haven’t tried a substitution, here’s what one of my readers wrote. I hope it’s helpful: “I replaced the cream with half-in-half fat free to cut down the fat grams and I used lite sour cream. Also used low sodium beef broth.”
I’ve made it with oat milk cooking cream with great success.
Do you happen to know how much a serving is on this? Is there somewhere you notate that on your recipes?
Hi Kari, The serving size can be found at the beginning of the print-friendly recipe card (located at the bottom of the recipe post). The nutrition label shows counts “per serving.” Hope that helps!
I didn’t have heavy whipping cream so I substituted 3/4 cups of milk and 1/4 melted butter whisked it and used ground turkey instead. So delish!!!!
Thank you for sharing, Kathy! I’m so glad it was delish!
I add a bit of thyme, Dijon mustard. Also, I make the broth with beer (I use a paste beef broth).
Thank you so much for sharing that with me, Susan!
I made this tonight and everyone loves it. Thank you for another great recipe!
Happy to that the recipe was a huge hit! Thanks for sharing, Dee.
Making this again tonight!! This is soo good and so easy!! Doubling everything so we have some left for lunches tomorrow!! Thanks for another great recipe! This one’s a keeper!!
You’re so welcome! I am glad that you enjoyed this recipe, Dani.
My family has enjoyed several of your recipes but my older son really loved this one! It’s so easy & economical to make. I’d never been quite happy with other stroganoff recipes, but as he said, yours is definitely a keeper! I’ll be making this one from now on, thanks so much for sharing it & all your other recipes here.
You’re very welcome, Trish! Thank you for the wonderful feedback. So glad that your family loves them.
Hi Natasha. I just made your ground beef stroganoff and it was a hit with my wife and grandson. I’m doing the cooking as my wife recuperates and I’m following your recipes. I am a beginner but your recipes are easy to follow. Thank you for what you’re doing! Sincerely Larry Padgett
You’re welcome! I’m so happy you enjoyed it, Larry! I hope your wife is better soon!
I made this tonight and it was just like the packet mix can buy, I added some garlic powder as well as fresh garlic, but it was great, I think I will need less cream next time and use milk instead as it went a bit thicker quicker. I usually put tomato paste but this didn’t need it, I served it with egg noodles and green beans, but I would like to try with rice next time.
Thanks for sharing, Nikita! 🙂
My husband hates pasta…at least he thought he did. I made this a few days ago thinking he would just have to eat something that I enjoy for once. He came in from work, looked in the pot and didn’t say a word. After his first bite he said “Wow! That’s amazing!” He ate all the leftovers the next day then said “time to make more!” LOL!
Haha! That’s awesome, Cheryl! I’m glad it was such a hit.
Super yummy, thanks! My family really enjoyed it just the way the recipe was written.
Thanks for sharing, Anna! So glad you loved it.
I loved this recipe!! I doubled the mushrooms because I can never have enough. It’s good as is but I ate leftovers over rice and that was also delicious
So glad you enjoy this recipe, Lexi!
Didn’t change a thing. Simply delicious and deliciously simple. Marry me
LOL! Thanks for the good review and feedback!
Move over Chicken Tetrazzini; there’s a new 1st Place Winner. I had originally planned to make the alternate recipe with strips of tender sirloin but I forgot the sirloin while shopping. I already had the ingredients for the ground beef recipe so I went to work.
My mother liked it so much that she could not find the right words to express her delight, so I allowed her to just enjoy the moment. Later that same evening, she asked if there was any left. Alas, there was not. She asked me the follow day if I was making it again but I was not. On the third day of her asking if I would make it again, I decided to indulge her. In 40 years of knowing my mother, I’ve only seen her this excited when we flew to Acapulco in 1997 as a family. There is something mystical about this recipe.
I have vacuum sealed and frozen several packages of this recipe for her, sans the noodles. She can make fresh noodles when she wants to reheat a package of the frozen Stroganoff.
If there are other adult children out there who are trying to make their elderly parents independent again, be careful with this recipe. Like my mother, they will stick around for the next recipe from Natasha’s Kitchen.
Thank you for the wonderful review and feedback, Andrew. I’m so glad it was enjoyed. The vacuum-sealed/frozen packages are such a great idea.
I made it and family loves it. Thanks for sharing. Made it for years but having a recipe is a nice reference.
I’m so glad you all enjoyed it, Teanna! Thank you for your great feedback!
I make it a 1 pan meal and cook whole wheat egg noodles in with the rest , just add more stock .
You are such a clever girl, what a winner. Love your recipes, thank you so much
Aww, thank you, Connie! So glad to hear that you enjoy my recipes.
Natasha, will the sauce stay thick the next day if leftover? I find with some sauce/gravy based recipes, they turn watery the next day. Find that especially with my mushroom onion gravy. Any suggestions? I make it using flour.
Thank you for your assistance.
Diana Koziol
Hi Diana, I haven’t had that experience to advise. Mushrooms tend to give off water, so that can be the culprit. If you try it with flour, I’d love to know how it goes!
My goodness this is sooooo
GOOD. Made your potato wedges to go with! Happy, happy happy😁
Yay, that’s lovely! Thanks for your review, Samy.
Can a lighter fat cream be used? Love your recipes and I’m watching my waistline!
Hi Erin, I haven’t tested that but I think it could work. If you experiment, let me know how you liked the recipe
I make this over and over again. This has easily become one of the favorites in the house. Perfect
Good to hear that, Bryce! Looks like you found a new favorite at home.
Hello Natasha, I forgot to buy whipping cream. Can half & half be substituted and it not be too runny?
Hi Rhonda. The Half & Half may work; it will likely be less creamy, though and not as thick.
Hello Natasha
I just wanted to tell you that I made your ground beef stroganoff last night for dinner, & it was absolutely delicious 😋 My daughter actually had 2 plates! The only thing I did differently was that I doubled the amount of onions and I served it over mashed potatoes instead of egg noodles, and corn as a side dish. I’ll be making it again for sure!
Hi Rhonda! I’m so glad you tried and loved this recipe. Thank you for the wonderful feedback and review.
This is my new favorite ground beef recipe. It’s easier to come home from work when we know we can cook fast and delicious meals. This is my fourth recipe and it’s always perfect 😁 thank you.
That’s wonderful to hear, Carole! Thank you for the review.
I made this last night and it was delicious! My picky eater who had requested beef stroganoff, specifying ground beef, loved it. I made the basic recipe with a few minor alterations. My package of ground beef was 1 1/2lbs. I used a whole onion as I love onions. I did not have fresh mushrooms so used a 10oz. jar. I drained the mushroom juice into a measuring cup and added enough water to make one cup. Then added a teaspoon of Better than Bouillon and that made my beef broth. Most recipes I have seen and used over the years called for some mustard so I added a teaspoon of Colman’s mustard powder. In finishing off the recipe I had a bit of a heavy hand with the sour cream. I cooked it all in a deep cast iron skillet which was perfect. I served it over egg noodles. Thank you for offering such a yummy and EZ to prepare recipe.
Thanks for sharing these details with us. I’m happy to know that the recipe was a huge success!
Smart you! A tablespoon of Dijon mustard is essential to a good Stroganoff, and really does NOT need worcestershire sauce.
Another amazing recipe! I followed everything EXCEPT adding sour cream. I always find it makes an otherwise tasty Stroganoff bland. Yours was no exception. I did a test, added sour cream to a serving & it stole all the flavor from your sauce! I find it an unnecessary step. Thank you for another great recipe
Thank you for the feedback, Nicole! So glad you enjoyed this recipe.
Great recipe, I didn’t change a thing. Delicious!
Thanks,
Laurie
I’m so glad it was a hit, Laurie!
Made this tonight! The only thing I did differently was drain the grease from the meat it was a bit too much for me, added a lil more olive oil! It turned out great! Served over egg noodles. Thank you for sharing! Its not very time consuming either!
You’re very welcome, Sami! Thank you for the review. 🙂
I use more sour cream and use beef consume’. Also a couple of full teaspoons of tomato paste … no whipped cream
Absolutely delicious! I added 1TBS tomato paste to the browning meat, but otherwise followed your recipe to a T and it was fantastic. And so quick!! Thank you for sharing 🙂
I’m so happy you enjoyed that. Thank you for sharing that with us, T!
It was very good and takes a less time than the traditional steak-based stroganoff.
So glad you enjoyed this recipe, Jan.
This was amazingly delicious!! Didn’t change a thing. Thank you! ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you for your good comments and feedback, Kathy!
Can I use high quality fish sauce to add a really umami flavor?
I haven’t tested that to advise. If you experiment, let me know how you liked the recipe.
Winner!!! My 5 year old are every bite!!! Never happens!!! Thank you!!!
Wow, that is awesome! I’m happy to know that your kid loves this recipe.
Followed recipe and served over egg noodles. Very good! Will definitely be making it again.
I’m so glad you enjoyed it, Beckie! Thank you so much for sharing that with me.
This meal was one of the best ever! The tip about searing the meat instead of simply browning it was key. I will forever on sear my ground meats. Thank you! Best recipe ever!!
That’s so great! It sounds like you have a new favorite, Vanessa!
I was just wondering what pasta or noodles were used in the photo?
Hi Zeina, we used egg noodles. You can use your favorite noodles, buckwheat, or mashed potatoes for this recipe!
I AM ADDICTED TO YR POSTS…THX FOR SHARING….HV BEEN MAKING THIS FAMILY FAV FOR 50 YRS! I DO IT WITH CAN OF CREAM OF MUSHROOM SOUP N SOUR CREAM OVER THE COOKED GROUND BEEF..WILL ADD YOUR SEASONINGS ALONG WITH MY S&P…LOVE THIS ONE.
Hi Betty! I’m glad you enjoy my posts. Thanks for sharing.
My Husband who is a very picky eater loved it. We made the recipe according to directions and it was awesome. Thank you for sharing it with us.
You know it’s good when the picky eater approves! That’s just awesome! Thank you for sharing your wonderful review!
I’m sorry but this was not good. It was very plain. I would suggest seasoning your ground beef when you’re cooking it to make it taste a little better otherwise I don’t recommend this dish.
Add a tablespoon of Dijon mustard; takes stroganoff over the top!
Yum! Thank you so much for sharing that with us!
Patricia, I hate Dijon mustard!! Worc sauce works great for this recipe.
It’s a very subtle, complex flavor. The onion and garlic and S&P are perfect. I always go right to your website Natasha.
Definitely bland. Needed more worcestershire sauce and I definitely think the tang from sour cream is important. Just don’t get that from whipping cream.
Feel free to add more seasoning next time. Thanks for your feedback, James.
Made this for dinner the other night and it was a hit! Everyone loved it!!!
That’s awesome and I’m so happy with the feedback. Thank you for sharing!
I don’t have access to whipping cream, can I use milk or half-and-half?
Hi Lisa, I haven’t tried either of those substitutions to advise. The Half & Half may work; it will likely be less creamy, though. I hope you love this recipe!
This was so easy and delicious! My husband loved it too! Definitely will make again. Thanks!
Hi Amy, good to know that you both loved this recipe!
Good recipe. I use white vinegar instead of worcestershire (gives it a German tang) and about 3/4 of sour cream and no heavy cream, and I use 3tbs of flour.
Thank you so much for sharing that with me!
Super good and so easy!! Used greek yogurt instead of sour cream (high protein low cal sub), added half tsp of dill and 1/4 tsp cayenne to give it some extra depth.
Great idea! Thank you so much for sharing that with me.
Family loved it. Only change was that I added 2 T. cooking sherry. Next time I will add some parsley and some more seasoning, and I will cut down the Worcestershire by at least 1/3. Definitely a keeper!
Great to hear that your family enjoyed this recipe, Susan!
my family loves it we eat it every other week my kids are asking it for lunch every friday its gone when i make
Great to hear that, thank you for sharing that with us!
Loved this recipe….delicious! Huge hit for my family! Doubled the recipe so everyone gets leftovers for lunch:)
Hi Roberta, I’m glad you enjoyed this recipe! Thank you so much for the review.
I hate to be a critic I use recipes a lot on line). This was easy but my mate said it was “flat: in taste. I agreed and mind you I followed the recipe to a tee.I’m old school with Betty Crockers recipe and I’m going back to the ole stand by.
Hi JB, I’m sorry to hear it didn’t work out for you. This normally is very flavorful – did you possibly swap out any ingredients? Another thing to consider if you use a coarse grain salt, you would want to add more and always add seasoning to taste since some people love a saltier dish. Salt can make or break a recipe.
Use 1/2 T Worcestershire, and a tablespoon of Dijon mustard…takes any stroganoff over the top
This recipe is perfect! I actually use it to a make a vegan version using Impossible ground beef. I use whole fat Oatly milk, vegan bouillon to make broth, and homemade cashew cream with a little apple cider vinegar for the door cream and vegan Worcestershire. So good!!!
That’s just awesome! Thank you for sharing your wonderful review, Jiana!
Made this for dinner tonight! it was amazing!! thank you for such an excellent recipe!
You’re very welcome, Lisa. I’m glad you loved it!
Was delicious. Fixed for a group of men at our local VFW. It was great. My only mistake was to add the noodles too soon. Didn’t stop anyone from eating. New favorite.
I’m glad to hear they all loved it! That’s so great!
I made this recipe a couple of days ago as I realized I had all the ingredients already at home. My family & I loved it and
requested I make it again soon. Thanks for sharing another of one your delicious recipes.
I’m so glad you all loved this recipe, Ingrid!
I think I’m on a roll with your recipes! I’ve made one for dinner practically every night this week! And last night I made this beef stroganoff because I had been craving it. My mom used to make this when I was a child and I loved it. This recipe was so good and took me way back to my mom’s kitchen! I’m thinking to try your other beef stroganoff recipe with the sliced beef next time the craving hits! Thank you!
Hello Linda, great to hear from you and I’m happy that you’re enjoying my recipes. Thank you for your awesome review and I hope you’ll love all the recipes that you will try.
Amazing! Used whole milk, and added an extra tbs of flour to thicken your before sour cream. I didn’t even need the sour cream it was so delish!!! Comfort food plus!! Always love your recipes!
That’s just awesome! Thank you for sharing your wonderful review, Kristen!
can you use 1/2 and 1/2 instead of whipping cream? Substitutions for actual mushrooms? Family likes mushroom flavor but not that actual mushrooms. Thanks!
Hi Karen, I haven’t tried either of those substitutions to advise. The Half & Half may work; it will likely be less creamy, though. I hope you love this recipe!
Crazy good!
I was looking for something similar to Hamburger Helper Stroganoff and this is right on. My kids finished every last bit. Thanks! We all loved it.
So glad to hear that, your kids can be the toughest and most important critics.
Hi Natasha, This recipe looks fantastic. I have a few questions to ask about the recipe. I was wondering if you can use beef stock if you can’t find any beef broth? Do you pour the whipping cream as it is or do you whip it first?
Hi, you can use the beef stock or beef broth interchangeably here. Also, just pour in the whipping cream, no need to whip it first.
This is a really good and easy recipe. The meat definitely needs to be salted during cooking (this was skipped in the recipe). I added extra onion because we like onion and I used whole milk instead of whipping cream (that’s all I had on hand). It thickened up nicely regardless of that substitution. I will make this again, thank you!
Thank you for the wonderful review!
